Small store in a tall building: Big Y opens in Tower Square

SPRINGFIELD — For Gwen Crichlow, grocery shopping used to mean a schlep of a bus ride from her home on Pearl Street out Boston Road to Walmart.

On Thursday, it meant a trip just a few blocks away to the new Big Y Express Fresh Market in Tower Square on its opening day.
