Dec 14, 2023

The Board of the Jasper Economic Development Corporation during their regular monthly meeting on Tue, June 6th, 2023.

The Board of the Jasper Economic Development Corporation met in regular session on Tuesday evening. The board had only one action item on the agenda and that was consideration of partnering with the City of Jasper, Jasper County Emergency Services District #4, and Jasper County to replace an old emergency stand-by generator at a public safety communications tower.

The board voted unanimously to do their part in replacing the current generator, which is said to be at least 18-years-old and in very poor condition.

Total cost is $17,932.00, with each of the four entities paying $4,483.00.

The generator is at what's known as the Everest Tower, which is on the west side of Highway 96, just north of Jasper. Local law enforcement agencies and fire departments operate their radio communications from that tower.
