124,000 VW Touaregs, Porsche Cayennes Recalled For Fuel Pump Flange Problem

Volkswagen has added the Touareg to its recent recall of Porsche Cayennes for fuel pump problems.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), VW's Porsche subsidiary recalled 50,141 Cayenne crossovers to repair faulty fuel pump flanges. The flanges may crack leading to fuel leaks.

Porsche recalled 2003-2006 Cayenne S and Turbo models, as well as 2004-2006 Cayenne Titanium models. And, now Volkswagen has added 73,941 Touaregs to the recall for the same problem. That means the total recall has grown to 124,000 vehicles.

As the automaker apparently doesn't have adequate replacement parts to complete the free repairs, VW will notify owners of the affected crossovers sometime in the near future as to when they can bring their SUVs into their dealerships for their free repairs.
